    1. As a Cowboys fan born when I was, I truly appreciate books like this one the most. I can't get enough of reading about the great teams of the 70's that really transformed the Dallas Cowboys into the globally recognized franchise that they have become. Obviously I never saw any of these teams play (although I've been able to catch many highlight reels over the years) so it's really fulfilling to me to be able to get all of these behind the scenes stories and points of view from that era. What a d [...]

    2. I thought it was a great book. Although I am a New York Giants fan, I loved how they went from "Next Year's Champions" to ""America's Team"(not any more though :) ). The author does a great job of telling the story of how Clint Murchinson needed to get approval from the Washington Deadskins to get the Cowboys to start playing, the journey from their 0-11-1 debut season in 1960, the heartbreaking loss to the Green Bay Packers in "The Ice Bowl", to finnaly winning in Super Bowl VI agianst the Dolp [...]

    3. I enjoyed this book and the author makes an excellent case about this being the team that propelled the Cowboys into the institution that they are today. Excellent research from nearly all the players of the team, from the Hall of Famers to the smaller contributors.

    4. I try to read at least one Cowboys-related book before the start of each football season, so when I got the ARC copy of Breakthrough Boys I picked it as this year's pre-season read. It is written by a journalist, and reads like it. It is a very straight forward, easy, fact-based read about the 1971 Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys (the first Cowboys team to win the Super Bowl). Not a lot of emotions, psychological/philosophical depth, or poetry to be found in this telling. That said, if you li [...]

    5. For any Dallas Cowboys fan, or any football fan interested in NFL history, this is a terrific book! I became a lifelong Cowboys fan in 1971 after watching them lose to the then Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl V. Prior to reading this book the only aspects from their first Super Bowl winning season I could remember were the quarterback controversy and the season-long drama surrounding Duane Thomas. Aron's book fills in all the other details in a rich narrative. Highly recommended!
