    1. Intense and brilliant plot.I didn't expect much from this book but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me. I was really engrossed in the story that I couldn’t seem to put it down! Ethan and Zoe’s investigation got all my attention effortlessly and it kept me anticipating what they would find out or what would happen to them, throughout the entire story. To be honest, it was a bit dissatisfying in the romance part, but thoroughly riveting in the suspense part instead. What to say about [...]

    2. First in a two-part series (followed by Truth or Dare), this book is a great re-read . Ethan Truax is a very believable three-times-divorced and financially bankrupt private investigator starting all over again in Whispering Springs. Zoe Luce (formerly Sara Cleland) is a less believable widow and fine arts major who feels emotions in the walls of rooms, particularly rooms where violence has occurred. She has relocated to Whispering Springs after escaping from the asylum in which her in-laws have [...]

    3. Zoe is an interior designer who can sense the mood of a room--literally. So when her new client's bedroom screams bloody murder, she hires PI Ethan Truax to investigate. That part gets solved rather quickly, but then Zoe's past comes up to bite her: or at least, blackmail her. This was a decent book, good for Krentz. I have been thinking a lot about why I read these novels when they're so incredibly formulaic, and I think it's because no matter how stoic the hero is, they're always at the core, k [...]

    4. Light in Shadow is the first of a short 2 book series following two women who escaped from a mental hospital. (It's followed up by Truth or Dare.)Zoe Luce can "feel the emotions" of a room. When working as an interior decorator, she feels something wrong in a bedroom she is about to redecorate and hires Ethan Truax to solve her little mystery. This mystery was solved in the first half of the book and really had me wondering what was going to fill the rest of the pages. But, Zoe's past comes back [...]

    5. 3.5* I loved Ethan and enjoyed Zoe. The book includes a decent suspense plot and some great dialog. I look forward to the sequel, Truth or Dare.

    6. Zajímaví a rozhodně originální námět. Ale čekala jsem, že se to bude víc soustředit na schopnosti Zoe a to se nestalo. Třeba se dočkám v druhém díle.Většina knihy byla spíš taková detektivka. S kapkou nadpřirozena.

    7. Zoe Luce hears voices in walls. Well, it's more like she can feel the emotions of people who have gone before, especially if they were intense emotions. It was this ability that caused her brother-in-law to have her committed to a psychiatric asylum, a place out of the worst movies. When she escaped with another patient then changed her name, Zoe thought she was safe. But now the man who supplied her with a new identity has been hacked and people are after her again. She hired Ethan Truax at the [...]

    8. Really liked this book. Zoe is an interior decorator whose been living in a small town in Arizona for a year. She has one good friend. While she is on a job, a man has told her that his wife left him. He wants Zoe to redecorate his home. When he takes her into the master bedroom, Zoe almost passes out. She hears terrible sounds from the walls. The bed is missing and a throw rug. She gets out of there as quickly as she can and talks to Arcadia (her friend) about what she experienced. Arcadia tell [...]

    9. All through this book I had the sense of deja vu, however most of the story was not familiar. There was also parts of the story that I expected to happen that never materialized. It was not until the end, that I realized that this must have been the first book in a series, and I had read part 2 which turned out to be Truth or Dare.I really enjoyed this book. I was able to connect to the characters eventhough they were a little "different". They were still loveable. An enjoyable, light read.

    10. This is a re-read for me, though I don't remember much of it. This is one that is set in Azizona and is not an Arcane Society book, though it does have paranormal elements. Zoe Luce is an interior Designer and she can sense emotions in the rooms she is in. She discovers a murder and hires Ethan Truaxx, a rather surly Private Investigator. As the story unfolds, she is being hunted and Ethan must protect her. Their relationship slowly develops but it never feels complete. I liked the mystery and t [...]

    11. Zoe Luce is building up her interior design business in Whispering Springs, a community in the Arizona desert. She has a special feel for houses, especially the ones where the terror of former occupants screams from the walls. It's a talent that got her into a mental hospital, and now her past has caught up with her. The detective she hires, Ethan Truax, decides a new husband will solve her problems. Zoe has some pretty terrifying people to face down before she can be finally free of them. A qui [...]

    12. I enjoyed the twists and turns in this novel. Krentz drew you into her mystery, and led you down many different paths trying to solve it. Often I see these "paths" as fillers that add little to the story, but not here. Krentz's characters were well developed and multi-dimensional. I closed the book wanting to know more, yet not unsatisfied with the ending at all - a good sign to me!

    13. This was a wonderful suspenseful book full of interesting, well-written characters! I had trouble putting the book down at night and finished it in 1 1/2 days. I didn't want the book to end but when it did, I was very pleased with how it ended. I loved Zoe and Ethan's characters, but I also loved Arcadia and would love to read more about her and her story.

    14. This could have been a five star read for me, but the author kinda went off the rails a bit at the end. Incredibly entertaining read, though. I'm exhausted, but I had to finish it. I'm gonna go pass out now.

    15. A very interesting story line. I loved each of the characters and that they each had their own little traumatic past.

    16. Ok, the plot to this was ridic and certainly not Jayne Ann Krentz's best, but still she's good enough that I enjoyed myself :)

    17. I borrowed this from the library as an audio book. I enjoyed it but it wasn't anything more than a light 'listen'.

    18. Zoe Luce entered Davis Mason's bedroom and the white walls were screaming at her. She knew right away that something violent had happened in that room, recently. She thought that she had obtained a wealthy new client that would be good for her interior design business. Now she was on her way to see a private investigator, Ethan Truax, to see if she could find out if Davis's ex-wife was still alive or if he had murdered her. The ad stated that the agency had been in business locally for over 40 y [...]

    19. Two women escaped from a mental asylum. Two women who’s past is never to be talked about. Two women who struggled to live a normal life. But one of them could feel the ghosts in the walls of the rooms she was inspecting. Zoe Luce had that sixth sense. Was it for real, or was it just the effects of being held in mental?Ethan Truax was a one-man PI. He’s quite good at his job, but was financially bankrupt, so he was doing his best to make everything work. But he had this feeling that something [...]

    20. This book surprised me. It held more intrigue then I had expected.Zoe and Arcadia escape from a mental hospital that they never belonged in. It's a place families 'keep' those that they need out of the way.Zoe opens up an interior decorating business and discovers a murder at a client's home. She is aware of the murder because of her ability to sense past emotions in rooms. She hired a private investigator, Ethan and together they face dangers and mysterious surrounding a couple murders and work [...]

    21. When interior designer Zoe Luce tours the home of a perspective client she senses something in thewalls of the bedroom. Feeling sure Davis Mason killed his missing wife in their bedroom Zoe needs someone to help her prove her "intuition" is correct. He hires Ethan Truax from a small private investigating company to help her prove her theory. Zoe finds out that Ethan is a superb detective who quickly proves that Davis killed his wife. Now that Ethan has more time on his handshe becomes interested [...]

    22. Registered on Bookcrossing - bookcrossing/journal/6My Review: Another great book by Jayne Ann Krentz. I made a mistake and read Truth or Dare the second book in this series before I read this one. It's been awhile, but I really loved the main characters Zoe and Ethan. It's a great couple with wonderful chemistry. I love the psychic angle, too. Personally I think this would be a great idea for a detective tv series.

    23. Honestly, one of Krentz's best books and that is saying something. The plot involves a touch of the paranormal and complicated circumstances for the characters, who are all individuals, less stereotyped than the usual Alpha male and female. The cadre of quirky friends are not deeply explored but more interesting than some supporting casts. The plot resolves in stages, without cliches. A good read overall.

    26. Ethan Truax PI is hired by Zoe Luce to investigate one of her design clients. She is sensitive and the vibes in the client's bedroom are terrible and the newly painted walls are white. The client tells her he's divorced and his ex took the bed.Great read, there was no slow down in the action and each discovery by Truax led to another turn.

    27. Krentz at the beginning of her paranormal period. Well-written with an interesting setting and predicament. Krentz is more inventive and her story is more memorable than some of her later work has become. This is an enjoyable story.

    28. Заслужава си да се прочете, макар че екшънът е повече от романтиката, ако някой има такива очаквания.
