    1. Carole King occupies a unique place in modern popular music history: she's not only one of the most successful female songwriters of our time, she straddled two (or perhaps more) modern music eras: the pre-British Invasion era of American pop music and the singer-songwriter era of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Because of this, I was expecting much more from this autobiography. King certainly recounts it all: her many successes, her journey from timid young songwriter to confident performer, he [...]

    2. Eh, her writing isn't outstanding. It's clear that her former husband was the lyricist. But her stories are fantastic. She's lived enough for three lifetimes (including enough failed romances to fill each). She's smart, passionate and, it would seem, a genuinely good person. All that makes for a pretty good book. 3. Hmmm, I like reading music bios and here's one about someone that really did so much for music. But this book is less about the music and more about King's personal life. That can be interesting but all the relationship drama just got in the way.

    4. Great fun to read. Reminded me of an important musical time of my life. Very honest with her challenges in life and of course her amazing career.

    5. I;m a big fan, so I really enjoyed all the details in this memoir, lots of info new to me. Can't believe Carole King is 70!

    6. Enjoyed this memoir of one of my fav's from my youth. A lot I didn't realize that she endured. Quite a story, and what a gifted, prolific artist.
