    1. Favorite Quotes“I just don’t think I can do this.” Ron lowered his gaze. “If you don’t, you will die, along with Charlie, your friends, your animals, and your family. I will die, as will our people. He will finally destroy the one person who stands against him. The one person who has the power to destroy him. There will never be another you. “Every time Charlie carries your pain, he gets weaker. Every time you feel better in Charlie’s presence, he pays the price for it. Is that wha [...]

    2. WOW! That is the first thing that pops into my mind when I think of this book. I did not read the first one, but I will. This book can be read as a stand alone. That is what I really liked about this book. There was enough information about events that took place in the first book that I didn't feel lost. I started the book and read it until I finished it in one sitting. It was that good. The imagery and use of the senses puts the reader right there with the characters. At one point something ha [...]

    3. The Scarring is the second book of the Spirit Warriors Series. It picks up pretty much where book one, The Concealing, left off; which was with a cliffhanger. At the risk of repeating my review of book one; book two is as repetitive and overly wordy as the first book. I wanted to scream “I heard you the first THREE times you said it!” It was the same in book one, but I hoped it was to prepare readers for this book; it wasn’t. The information was repeated again, and the writing was still ex [...]

    4. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.Emme and all of her friends Charlie, Ollie, Jack and Bets are back still grieving the loss of their friend Lily. Emme has a lot more to worry and be sad about than just losing a friend Charlie has told her that he is moving back to the reservation and that they cannot be together anymore. Emme doesn't want to hear or talk about her and Charlie not being together anymore that they are not meant to be together. She loves Char [...]

    5. How often do you read a series where the 2nd book is even better than the 1st? Seldom in my world. But this novel is one - D. Connor is so talented as a storyteller that you are immediately brought back to the first book. Even though some time had passed between ending the first and beginning this book, within a few paragraphs I was back to the wonderfully created characters. In the first book, I was so impressed with the author's talent of description that I felt I could see, feel, smell and be [...]

    6. This is the second book in the YA Spirit Warriors series set in Montana. We meet the characters from the last book; Charlie and Archie, descents from native American Indians, Jack, Ollie, Bets and Em. They're Charlie's friends and he and Em have a special relationship which will be tested to the core. These children have learnt the ability to join their spirits with those of animals in a battle against the Machayiwiw an evil medicine man spirit escaped and running a muck in the world today. Em ha [...]

    7. This is one of those stories, which one can't help but fall in love with the characters and hopes to see them all again soon.Although I haven't yet read the first book, I had no trouble diving into the story as if it were a stand alone. There's enough background information without feeling too sluggish or ruining the story line of the second book. The writing is very smooth making it easy to read with just the right amount of description to let the reader fall into the world. But it's the charact [...]

    8. I have to be honest, I haven’t read the first book which I will be changing as soon as I open up some time on my schedule. Reading about Emme and her friends took me to a world I absolutely loved. I would have willingly stayed there longer but what to do when the book ended. D.E.L Connor has written a story that blew my mind, I have always been entranced by Native American lore so it wasn’t difficult to embrace this book. So let me wipe the drool off my face from babbling on and say I hearti [...]

    9. I am in awe with this book. I received this book to review and I am very thankful that I was chosen. For a High School aged girl to take on so much, to have gone through so much and survive is amazing. With a tight group of friends and family Emme can be the Strong person that she needs to be.I have not read Book 1 yet but will be doing so shortly.I can not wait for the rest of the books to come out.

    10. From the first to the second Spirit warriors caught me up in a whirlwind of emotion. The way that the characters matured and became even more in this book had me enraptured from the first page. The only reason I couldn't give this five stars is because once again the beginning was a little slow to catching me completely, but because I knew it was how the author worked I kept at it. If you want a good book for your teenager about friendship and love this would be it.

    11. I absolutely loved the natural and native themes in the book. The friends were real and the issues they faced were compelling! I totally got into the story and both books were quick reads. There was a little too much play-by-play in the narration for my taste but it didn't keep me from getting absorbed in the books!

    12. It was a definite improvement for me from the first book, but I'm still struggling in some places, so let's try to figure this out!The Positives ~Things didn't feel quite so juvenile this time around compared to the first book. The MC still had her moments, but for the most part, it was toned down and I think it's because everyone's story lines really picked up in this book: Charlie moves off to the reservation where Emme is able to learn more about fighting and training; Bets departs from the g [...]

    13. The Scarring takes up where The Concealing leaves off. Emme's life seems to be falling apart before her eyes. Her best friend is dead, her other best friend is blaming her for Lilly's death and everything that is wrong with their world and has deserted her and her Mom and brother have gone to California to advance his musical career. The one person she thought was meant to be hers forever is not the man she loves.Emme is the host to a spirit warrior who is being hunted over time by an evil medic [...]

    14. This is the second book in the series and I have read both. The first one was good but this one is even better. It has left me wanting more and wondering what will happen to Emme,Charlie,Bets,Ollie and Jack. Also what will happen to their animals Eros,Hercules,Electra, and Zephyr as they fight the evil Machayawiw. Who is the Machayawiw? Will Emme and Charlie be a couple after all? What will the poachers do and who will they hurt next. I need the other book to answer those questions. This book is [...]

    15. I'm a huge fan of this series. I have enjoyed it from the first page. This sequel did not disappoint. Compared to the first book this one took a little bit of a dark twist which I really enjoyed. As the pressure mounts the main character Emme struggles with her teenage emotions and her abilities. There were several new characters which were introduced. I really liked Hawke. He is strong and stoic. The writing flowed effortlessly and story keeps the pages turning. I am anxiously waiting for the n [...]

    16. Spirit warriors, tales of the past and a evil so evil it will give you chills up your ur spin when it's near. With Lizzy gone, no one really knows what to do besides trying to move forward. Emme is just trying to keep everyone together. But it seems the evil is pitting friends against friends. It seems Bets has taken up arms with Emme's enemy Joe and his infamous girlfriend. Charlie had heartbreaking news that she needs to listen too and so does he. Whether they both like it or not. Jake is the n [...]

    17. If you read the first book you know you cannot stop reading this series.Emme, Bets, Charlie, Ollie, and Jack have lost one of their friends and the losses seem to just be getting greater. The rifts are threatening to put an end to the closeness the spirit warriors once shared. Will they fall apart? Can they pull themselves together to rid this world of a horrible evil spirit? The book can be read without the first in the series by all ages .But if you do , I bet you will go back to read the firs [...]

    18. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.I really enjoyed this book. Following the first book, Emme and her group of friends now know what their destiny is and soon begin a new routine until things change, forcing the group to part from one another. Can Emme still do what she is destined to do when all she wants is to go back to the way things were before? Will she follow her heart to Charlie, or let her destiny take her where she needs to go?Will be interesting to read th [...]

    19. Action packed! After mourning the loss of an important person from book 1, book 2 picks up with constant action and suspense. She takes many unexpected turns and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I would call this heavy and entertaining. Like all her work, it is full of beautiful scenery and rich back story. I would certainly recommend!

    20. Like the characters and the story. Like the story flow. Couldn't put book down. Highly recommend this series. Given copy for honest review.

    21. This book did not disappoint !! Sometimes the 2nd book is not as good as the 1st - definitely not the case with this book !!!! Could not put it down and can't wait to jump into book #3 !!!!
