        Sa d Sayrafiezadeh was born in Brooklyn and raised in Pittsburgh He is an award winning fiction writer, memoirist and playwright Brief Encounters With the Enemy, his short story collection, will be published by The Dial Press this August.He is the recipient of a 2012 2013 fiction fellowship from the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library, and the author of the critically acclaimed memoir When Skateboards Will Be Free, for which he received a Whiting Writers Award It was selected as one of the ten best books of the year by Dwight Garner of The New York Times.His short stories and personal essays have appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Granta, McSweeney s, The New York Times Magazine and The Best American Nonrequired Reading, among other publications.Sa d lives in New York City with his wife, the artist and designer Karen Mainenti, and teaches creative writing at New York University where he earned a 2013 Outstanding Teaching Award.

    1. NYer short story. Outstanding. I wish Mr Sayrafiezadeh would come out with a full-length novel. That's a pretty selfish wish, because the hours it would take me to read his book, while very happy for me, are nothing compared to the years it would take a writer as clear and honest and creative as this dude.This guy can paint the arc of a life, and its intertwined lives, in a single sitting, with perfect omissions, inclusions, and illustrations.And he's really funny.I've got a soft spot for writer [...]
