Saul Petersheim has pursued Rosemary for years, but Rosemary keeps turning him down. What Saul doesn't know is that she has good reason--something no one can know--especially not him.Good story. 4. Rooted in Love (previously published in An Amish Garden)Rosemary Lantz is doing her best to run her family’s household. She excels at all her tasks except one: gardening. Saul Petersheim has pursued Rosemary for years, but Rosemary keeps turning him down. What Saul doesn’t know is that she has good reason—something no one can know—especially not him.My thoughts: I read Rooted in Love in An Amish Garden, but I didn't remember it, so I reread it. Saul is stubborn, proud, and just like a ma [...]

    5. Let me start by saying that I don't really care for novellas. I much prefer a "full-length" book that I can really sink my teeth into and get to know the characters and become immersed in their lives. As a reviewer, I have read a lot of novellas this year and this collection from Beth Wiseman is at the top of the list. I really enjoyed these four stories. Each story is well-written. There are great character development and a great plot in each. Nothing felt rushed in these stories as is often th [...]

    6. Best-selling author Beth Wiseman puts four stories of loss and love into one book. These stories grab your attention from the first page. You’ll enjoy reading how Saul Petersheim tries to win back the heart of Rosemary Lantz. Jonas Miller competes for the affection of Irma Rose Kauffman. Widower Eli Byler moves to a larger district to find a wife. Widow Katherine Zook’s strange reunion with James Zook. He left his Amish life, his wife and son (Katherine’s husband) over thirty years ago. Wha [...]

    7. Most of the time, we simply don't have the time to read a full length novel but wish we had the time. The perfect solution for those situations is to get a hold of a collection of your favorite genres all combined in one book in the form of novellas or simply short novels. For me, Beth Wiseman is definite a favorite author and whenever I see her name, I know I am in for a great novel or in this case a great collection of novellas in particular to the Amish Romance genre in An Amish Year. This is [...]

    8. Four short Amish stories to stir your faith and breath hope into your soul. I loved all 4.Rooted in LoveMiscommunication along with misunderstanding keep Saul and Rosemary at arms length when they are so attracted to each other. Rosemary with much on her plate due to her mother's passing also misses an opportunity for her father to know love again. A lesson on the value of communication and what we miss because of misunderstanding. It is in these misunderstanding, we can see how God works out th [...]

    9. I must admit that when I hear that a new Beth Wiseman book is going to be released, I feel great anticipation and have the expectation that this book will be the best yet!! I am NEVER disappointed! This collection of novellas was certainly no exception. It met every one of my criteria for a well written book! Although, novellas are not my favorites, as they seem too short and don't satisfy my yearning for a complete story, Beth managed to create one that was so full of hope, love and faith that [...]

    10. MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOKAn Amish Year is a collection of four stories written by one of my favorite authors, Beth Wiseman. The four stories are Rooted in Love, A Love for Irma Rose, Patchwork Perfect, and When Christmas Comes Again. I love all of these stories, and I love that I can read a story in one sitting. If you don’t have time to read a full book, this is an awesome alternative for you. Each story is short, well written, and the characters are adorable. I fell in love with them all! You [...]

    11. Beth Wiseman takes us through the season in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in her collection of novellas combined to make "An Amish Year: Four Amish Novellas". Beth's passion to tell about Amish struggles, while at the same time keeping them rooted in their faith is a special gift. Her writing style and storytelling is easy to read and follow. She leaves you wanting to know more about her character's life after their stories are over.I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley, in return [...]

    12. This is a book with four novellas contained dealing with Amish life.At these stressful times of the holidays, the government and sexual abuse with people of power running rampant, I found this book very refreshing.”Rooted in Love” had to do with communication and lost love, which anyone can relate to. Rosemary overheard a conversation in error about a different Saul than the one who she felt was her soul mate. We have all heard something wrong and been in the same situation“A Love for Irma [...]

    13. I truly like the author, Beth Wiseman. Every book or novella is always an enjoyable read . You can count on it.And the same holds true for this set of novellas , each taking part in a different time of the year – thus the title.I could end this review right now because all four stories were gut. But I especially love the first story and the last story in this book . it's one of those cases where I would've liked to of been there.Oh, and for people who want to write novellas – read these. Stu [...]

    14. A book of four stories--all very good.I had previously read the fourth story so I didn't read it again. In the first, a boy keeps persuing a girl who seems to wantnothing to do with him but he suspects that she does have aninterest in at some level.Another story is about a widower, teenage daughter, & ten yearold son in a new community. The father asks a woman out butgets turned down flat. He dates a sec0nd who has differentmethods of discipline that he disagrees with. A third, widowis still [...]

    15. An Amish Year contains four novellas about the Amish. The stories get better as the book proceeds.Allow me to comment on each novella.A. The first story is “Rooted in Love.” Saul is an eligible bachelor and has pursued Rosemary for years. Rosemary is attracted to Saul, but she does not want to marry him because she believes that he is infertile. This story was all right. Not great, but all right. I liked that Saul was carrying a torch for Rosemary.B. The second story is “A Love for Irma Ro [...]

    16. Many Mysteries, Much LoveAll four of these stories captivated me. I read them all in two sittings. All of the stories had happy endings too.Sometimes it took longer for a couple to find true romance. Gossip also took romance through a detour. It was sad when the book ended. I hope you'll enjoy this book as much as I have.

    17. Julia, Central patron, July 2017, 5 stars:A book of four novellas. Perfect for a hot summer afternoon.

    18. I read it because of "A Love for Irma Rose"; which I loved. While the other 2 were written very well, I fell in love with the last story in the book "When Christmas Comes Again".

    19. I love reading books with novellas in them. The only downfall is they always leave me wanting more! But that just means they are wonderfully written, as is An Amish Year by Beth Wiseman. The first story introduces us to Rosemary. She has been taking care of her family since her mother's passing. It hasn't been easy for her, and some things have slid quite a bit like the family garden. It is just not easy for Rosemary to keep up with everything. Enter Saul Petersheim to the rescue. He has loved R [...]

    20. This is one of those books that has four short story books within - a novella. Although when I agreed to review the book I didn't have any idea that this was the case, because it was called An Amish Year, I knew my mom would love it. Once my mother finished the book, she provided me with the following review:"I don't really care for novellas and much prefer a full book with one story so I can fully come to know the characters and learn more about their lives. That being said, I found that this b [...]

    21. An Amish Year by Beth Wiseman contains four novellas. The four stories are Rooted in Love, A Love for Irma Rose, Patchwork Perfect (my favorite), and When Christmas Comes Again. In Rooted in Love Rosemary Lantz and Saul Petersheim dated when they were teenagers. Then Rosemary unexpectedly broke up with Saul and refused to give a good reason. Rosemary is hiding a secret. Saul still loves Rosemary and wants to spend his life with her. Can Saul break through Rosemary defenses (and bitterness) so th [...]

    22. This book contains four sweet Amish novellas that take place during different seasons in the year.Rooted in Love - Sweet Rosemary Lantz has her hands full running her home and helping with her siblings since her mamm died. Saul Petersheim is interested in courting her but she rebuffs all his efforts. Her dad Wayne doesn't quite recognize that another local widow Katherine is interested in him. Rosemary is resistant to Katherine being her new stepmom but wants her dad to be happy. She 'knows she [...]

    23. At the end of each story of my ARC it lists books related to the story, which made me happy because I can explore the worlds touched upon further. You will need tissues! I cried heaps at the final novella, very bittersweet with a full range of emotions explored. Just because a story is short doesn't mean it can't pack a punch! I fell in love with all the characters, some who are in a more liberal Amish community than I've previously read, but that in itself was fascinating. A lot of the troubles [...]

    24. Thomas Nelson and Beth Wiseman released this book December 8, 2015 and I had plans to review this at an earlier date, but to be honest with the holidays I got behind on my reading. A lot of people wonder why a reader picks certain books over others, well for me it is generally the cover that attracts me then the description on the back is the selling point. With this book the cover is beautiful, summer day with a horse and buggy prominently displayed and in the background a red barn. I have neve [...]

    26. Beth wiseman has a beautiful way of developing the characters in her stories in such a way that I find myself truly wanting to meet them. An Amish Year is a collection of four novellas, each one unique and set in a different season. The characters come to life in a way that helps me to feel as if I could crawl into the story, walk down the street, and find a new friend: one with little quirks and struggles that develop as the stories progress. One such example is the character of Jonas, in the n [...]

    27. I don’t think I’ve met a Beth Wiseman book that I haven’t loved… and this one is no exception.Beth draws your attention at the start, and if you’re like me, you won’t stop reading until you’ve reached the end. She writes wonderful Amish fiction novels – and her novellas are just as memorable. Don’t miss out on these special stories – one written for each season.Rooted in LoveThis story was previously published in An Amish Garden, and is about Rosemary Lantz and Saul Petershei [...]
