    1. I would like to thank Netgalley and Endeavour Press for a review copy of Karaoke Rap, the 10th outing for Mr Gough's Vancouver based detectives Jack Willows and Claire Parker. The novel has two strands to it - Ozzie's get rich quick scheme of kidnapping and ransoming financier Harold Wismer and the scheming of ageing gangster Jake Cappalletti. How it all fits together and overlaps is the basis of the novel.I have read several novels in this series and I think this is one of the best as it is grit [...]

    2. "hard boiled" - Elmore Leonard in a Vancouver setting.Outrageously bad (and stupid) bad guys (and gals). A kidnapping gone badly awry. The kidnappers are out of control and haven't done their due diligence (the rich guy isn't as rich as his press releases would have you believe). Our main police detectives, Willow and Parker, are good — but flawed — characters. A lot of the rest of the squad are are almost as flawed as the bad guys. The ending is a little loose perhaps a lead-up to a sequel. [...]

    3. Think of Laurence Gough as the Canadian Equivalent of Elmore Leonard. Worth a read, funny at times and well written.
