    1. I found this book in my grandmother's house when I was 10 or 11 (it originally belonged to my father or his sister, I think).I loved it and re-read it until it was falling apart. This is the book that got me so interested in the social sciences, public policy, urban society, women's history, etc.


    2. I enjoyed the childhood biography series very much as a child. I never read this volume though until an adult. I think children might enjoy this book and it is written in a simplistic, compelling narrative. I give the book three stars because it leaves important facts out and has inaccuracies, or at least inconsistencies with what provides about Jane Addams' life.Wagoner never names Addams' affliction, but in Wagoner's book her father and housekeeper speculate when Jane is four or five that it [...]



    3. This is another book from my childhood, and I was eager to find this book because I've just been to Hull House in Chicago. Jane has been one of my heroes for years.
