    1. Dark and gritty, brutal and heart wrenching, shocking and suspenseful - From the Shadows packs one hell of a punch, pulling you along for the ultimate wild ride of carnage and vengeance. Vicious from the onset, Carter's main character Blaze a.k.a. Bobby Blaise, sets out on a dark and perilous path where all is not as it seems. Thrown into prison after starting a chain of irreversible and deadly events, Blaze is confronted with more than his shady past. Forced to participate in the cruelest and m [...]

    2. Well, this was a bundle of joy. Hahaha. Full of suspense and violence, I couldn't get enough. An original story with a main character that you love and hate at the same time.Blaze is out for revenge and he'll stop at nothing to get it even if it means stepping all over his family and the law. He fears nothing and everybody should fear him. As he and some coppers follow the breadcrumbs to find the scumbag they're looking for, you see all sides to Blaze and what he has endured with still more to c [...]

    3. Dark and dangerousThis is a thriller/revenge/suspense story centred on Billy Blaise (Blaze) who had a bad start in life as a youngster. When he returns to his home town of Glendale he has some issues to resolve and it isn't long before he runs into trouble. There is a lot of violence and some of it is leaves nothing to the imagination, being graphic and gruesome. The characters and the plot are well developed and kept me turning the pages. Recommended

    4. This isn't really the kind of book I read, but I'm glad I did! 'From the Shadows' had the perfect blend of great characters, action and a whodunit which had me scratching my head. While the book is quite violent in parts it was balanced out by the thoughtful mystery/whodunit running through it.I liked all of the characters in the book - even the nasty, violent ones! All the characters - good and bad - were well-rounded and I genuinely cared what was to become of them (the good ones at least!).I l [...]

    5. Wow! I took this book for my upcoming vacation but I'm not even packed yet and the book is read. David Carter has a brilliant series on his hands here and although it might be too graphic for some, the explosive violence and edge-of-your-seat pacing will be popular with many I suspect. The intensity never lets up for more than a second and I literally could not turn the pages fast enough. If you like your thriller fare to be uncompromising then you'll love From The Shadows. Looking forward to re [...]

    6. From The ShadowsBobby Blaise has been unloved, ignored and abused since his birth. At eighteen he leaves home to begin a new life. So why at age 31 does he come back with a vengeance to destroy his past and everyone he believes wronged him? And who is killing people now that he is gone again. Is there a way to stop the killings? This Amazing THRILLER will leave you begging for more. I RECOMMEND ! ENJOY

    7. This was a firecracker of a book - a real page turner right from the get go - I would highly recommend this book especially if you like a thriller - This author is up there with the best of them and even better he comes from New Zealand. If you would like to purchase head to .

    8. Edgy. Thrilling. Billy Blaze is a young man with a lot of anger, and for good reasons. The story is so dark in places, and doesn’t look away from anything. To say Blaze had a rough start is an understatement. This is a story of both revenge and setting things right, those lines get blurry in places, nothing is neat, it’s real. The time Blaze spent in the Wolf Den was intense, gruesome, horrifying bordering something I would expect in a horror novel. Fortunately, I love reading horror. To coun [...]

    9. No holding backLots of anger, violence, and disturbing visuals. Enjoyed the methods Blaze used for revenge. Well worth your time! Can't wait to start the next book.

    10. Reviewed for Readers' Favorite by Grant LeishmanFrom The Shadows, by David Carter introduces us to thirty-one-year-old, Bobby Blaise (or Blaze as he prefers to be known). Blaze was the black sheep of his family and left the small, rural, New Zealand town of Glendale, where is mother was the principal of the Catholic Boarding school in the town, some fifteen years earlier. Blaze is on a mission – a mission to pay his mother back for the perceived mistreatment of him as a child and to lure into [...]

    11. This book took me by surprise. It is a lot better than I was expecting. It is a murder mystery with a difference. There are two distinct storylines happening at the same time and the author blends them well. The main character is a violent criminal, but you can’t help but like him. This book does not meet my criteria for 5 stars. Do I want to keep reading it over and over again? No. Does it contain a character that I fall in love with? No. Does it have a twist that took me completely by surpri [...]

    12. An entertaining story, although the graphic violence and profanity seemed gratuitous at times. Carter is a talented story-teller, but he needs to avoid shifts in points of view mid-chapter. I felt this tale could be better suited at novella length; there was excessive "fat" to pad the word count that was unnecessary. Anyone who has read my books, knows I'm a sucker for the Anti-Hero. While Blaze met the prerequisites, he operated at one level: high octane rage. I am optimistic that as Carter con [...]

    13. An Engrossing NovelThis novel hits the ground running and keeps going until the end. If you're an action junkie and a lover if thriller killers this book will not let you down. There is a lot of bloody violence and it touches on some controversial subjects, but the story telling ability of the author kept me reading. I even found myself looking for free time to get back to the book. I recommend this novel to all those without queasy stomachs. Five stars.

    14. I am not one for writing long reviews. So I'll keep this short and sweet.Fantastic read. I could not put it down once I started. The book has quite a bit of blood, guts and is quite dark which is right up my alley. If you are looking for a romance novel, then you are in the wrong place. Can't wait for the next installment for this series.

    15. Awesome book, fast paced thriller that gets down to the nitty grittyally looking forward to getting into book 2. Love that it is based here in good old NZ.

    16. This book was a real page turner. The story kept me on edge and the character development was fantastic. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and what motivates their actions. Highly recommend.

    17. This is a well written thriller that kept my interest to the end. The story line is well developed and the characters gain more depth as the story line builds. Some of the fight scenes are quite graphic and were not really to my taste, but having said that I look forward to the next book.

    18. I loved It!! Very hard to put down.Great characters, plot, everything! An excellent storyteller - I actually found myself squinting at the words - like you would when a scary/gory part is on a movie and you want to watch but you kinda don't! I can't wait for the next one!
